About Troop 008
Troop 008 is a medium sized group of Scouts and dedicated adult Leaders who come together to have FUN and learn some things along the way. We have over 40 very active boys and 11 registered and trained Adult Leaders and Committee members. We originally chartered the Troop in 2001 because we saw a need for a small, focused but relaxed Troop in North East Cobb.
We are chartered out of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, located just south of Highway 92 on Sandy Plains Road across from Wesley Chapel Road. http://www.wesleychapelumc.com/
Our Troop meets weekly at 7 p.m. to about 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday nights. We meet in the annex building to the right of the entrance, not the main church. One additional (optional) meeting a month is the Patrol Leaders Council (PLC) meeting where the Scout youth leadership plans upcoming meetings and activities.
We are a Scout-led organization. Meetings and campouts are planned and run by the Patrol Leaders and the Senior Patrol Leader (SPL) with guidance by the Adult leaders. Our program will help to develop good lifetime skills and values in our Scouts. Currently, we have six Patrols, each made up of a variety of ages and ranks. Once a month, we have a camping or other overnight activity that the Scouts choose in their annual planning meeting.
